Kick off
your boots at Buffalo Billiards, located in
a real piece of “Wild West” history (built
in 1861), on Austin’s historic Sixth
Street. An easy walk from the hotel, some
great food and drinks, dancin' music, some
"Lone Star State" traditions with a modern
twist, and some good old rowdy fun, will be
waiting for you as you greet old friends and
make some new ones. Spouses and guests

ACR Silent Auction
The Silent Auction and Sections Fiesta will take
place Friday evening in the Austin Hilton Grand
Ballroom on the sixth floor of the hotel. The
auction will be held in conjunction with the
Sections Fiesta Reception. Bid on unique items
for yourself, necessities for your business or a
special gift for someone.
Proceeds help support ACR scholarships and
programs.

ACR's
Sections are throwing a big party and you are
the guest of honor. You'll enjoy plenty of food,
drink, music, fun and games. Section planners
are busy putting together a unique extravaganza
that will be fun for all. Stay tuned.
ACR Sections and Chapters
At the ACR Resource Center you can learn about
ACR special interest Sections and find out about
an ACR Chapter in your local area. Section and
Chapter involvement is a good way to connect
with colleagues and network with people in your
geographic or interest area. Information about
ACR Sections will be available at the Friday
night Sections Fiesta.

Presentations & Presidential
Luncheon

The
Presidential Luncheon
on Saturday October 27, 12:15 p.m. to
2:30 p.m., is a focal point of the Annual
Conference with its traditional awards and
presidential installation ceremonies. ACR is
pleased to present Rev. Mpho A. Tutu the Marvin
E. Johnson Award winner at the Presidential
Luncheon.

The Reverend Mpho A. Tutu
The Rev. Mpho A. Tutu, an Episcopal priest,
is the founder and Executive Director of the
Tutu Institute for Prayer and Pilgrimage.
For several years prior to her ordination,
Rev. Tutu was Director of the Discovery Program
at All Saints Church, a weekday and summer
ministry for children in the downtown Worcester,
Massachusetts. She also worked as the Seminarian
Associate at St. Michael's-on-the-Heights Church
in Worcester.
Rev. Tutu studied and taught in Grahamstown,
South Africa, at the College of the
Transfiguration, the Provincial Episcopal
seminary of Southern Africa. While at the
College, she joined the Mother's Union, and
worked in both Xhosa- and English-speaking
congregations. With a grant from the Episcopal
Evangelical Education Society, she initiated
pastoral care ministry for a rape survivors and
their families.
Rev. Tutu began her ordained ministry at
Historic Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
She now serves as Assisting Priest at Holy
Comforter Episcopal Church in Washington, DC.
She is an experienced public speaker and
preacher having recently addressed groups and
congregations as diverse as Trinity, Copley
Square, Massachusetts, Mother Bethel AME church
in Philadelphia, The University of Minnesota at
Mankato and the Women’s Club of Richmond.
For five years, Rev. Tutu was Director of the
Bishop Desmond Tutu Southern African Refugee
Scholarship Fund of the Phelps Stokes Fund. That
program provided full four-year college
scholarships to refugees from South African and
Namibia.
The Rev. Mpho Tutu is the chairperson of the
board of the Global AIDS Alliance and a member
of the advisory board Reinvest in South Africa (RISA).
Rev. Tutu holds a Master of Divinity Degree
from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA.
Rev. Tutu is married to Joseph Burris; they
have two daughters, ten year old Nyaniso, and
one year old Onalenna.
